Platform

Fiscal Responsibility & Budget Oversight

  • Resident Budget Review Committee: We believe our neighbors’ insight is invaluable. By inviting residents and professionals to participate in the budget process, we can ensure every dollar is spent wisely and aligned with the community’s priorities.

  • Professional Benchmarking: We propose comparing Irvington’s expenses and operations to other similarly sized municipalities. This helps us spot areas for cost savings or shared services, keeping taxes in check.

  • Grant Funding Success: Collectively, we’ve helped Irvington secure over $6 million in grants for infrastructure, flood mitigation, electric vehicle charging stations, and more—reducing the need to rely solely on local tax revenue.

Infrastructure & Facilities Updates

  • Facilities Planning Committee: We formed and led a resident-driven task force to address safety, infrastructure, and modernization for our Fire Department, Police Department, and Department of Public Works (DPW). This transparent, community-led process ensures we prioritize real needs while staying within budget.

  • Building Process Streamlining: Too often, residents face drawn-out, confusing steps for home renovation or development. We’re committed to simplifying these procedures, improving communication, and respecting Irvington’s historic character. By updating outdated code and using modern technology for permit applications and tracking, we can make it simpler to invest in our community—while maintaining proper checks and balances.

  • Flood Mitigation & Storm Resilience: Our slate has pushed for new infrastructure (e.g., improved drainage systems, updated culverts) and protective policies to mitigate future flood risks.

Housing & Downtown Revitalization

  • Transit-Oriented Development (TOD): We’re leveraging a new TOD grant to explore mixed-use, transit-friendly zoning that can spur new business opportunities and create housing options—especially for middle-income families and older residents looking to downsize but remain in Irvington.

  • Preserving Irvington’s Historic Character: Smart development doesn’t mean overdevelopment. We’re committed to policies and guidelines that uphold our village’s historic district, scenic views, and architectural legacy, all while inviting fresh ideas that benefit local businesses and residents.

  • Affordable Housing Opportunities: By responsibly planning for multi-family housing on non-tax-generating lands, we can generate new tax revenue (supporting vital services like Fire and DPW) and offer housing choices for individuals making up to $65,000 and families of four making up to $125,000. Alongside neighboring communities providing similar housing, young adults, early career professionals, local service workers, and fixed income seniors can afford to live in the Rivertowns. The housing can offsets your taxes, support local businesses, and offer potential new volunteers in our community.

Sustainability & Environment

  • Climate Smart Communities & Green Initiatives: Under our leadership, Irvington earned a Climate Smart Communities Silver Certification. We’ve championed projects that install EV charging stations, and promote green infrastructure.

  • Deer Management & Forest Conservation: Protecting the Irvington Woods is vital for biodiversity, recreation, and our overall quality of life. We support a humane, science-based deer management program to allow forest understory to regenerate, ensuring that future generations can enjoy these trails and woodlands.

  • Gas-Powered Leaf Blower Ban: We successfully passed a permanent ban on gas leaf blowers—a major step to reduce noise pollution, improve air quality, and encourage eco-friendly alternatives.

  • Sustainable Funding: Whenever possible, we pursue grants for environmental projects—reducing the financial burden on local taxpayers.

Community Engagement & Inclusivity

Transparent, Responsive Governance

  • Open Doors & Open Houses: We believe in regular town halls, listening sessions, and open houses where residents can share concerns and ideas directly.

  • Volunteers Power the Village: From the many committees, boards, and civic clubs to our volunteer Fire Department and IVAC, Irvington thrives on community participation. We pledge to continue actively recruiting and recognizing volunteers.

  • Welcoming All Residents: As a diverse team from different backgrounds—we know local government works best when everyone can participate. We’ll keep championing inclusive policies so every resident feels valued and heard.

True progress takes all of us, working together!
